Important Topics From Chapter Solid State (Class-12)

As board exams are approaching , Every student is worried about his/ her preparation. The whole year you have studied through online classes due to obvious reasons. Few students are fully prepared but a no. of students still have doubts .Now this is the moment when you finally start working towards your current goal –The board examination. Today , I will start sharing with my students  chapter –wise preparation of  Chemistry Subject.

As you are well informed , there are 16 chapters divided in two books .Theory Paper is of 70 marks (Practicals =30) and of 3 hours.

The question paper comprises four sections – A , B , C and D . There are 37 questions in the paper all of which are compulsory, though internal choices are given .

Section A carries very short answer questions of one mark each which could be MCQs , one word answers , Passage based questions or Assertion –Reasoning based questions.

Section B carries short answer questions of 2 marks each which you have to answer in 2-3 lines.

Section C carries long answer types questions of 3 marks each.

Section D again carries long answer types questions of 5 marks each which have 2 or 3 parts.

So this was all about the blue print of chemistry question paper.

Now Question arises – what to study or how to prepare a particular chapter in short time so that you can score maximum marks.

I am here to guide you for these last moment preparations.

Let’s start with chapter -1

SOLID STATE

Click Here for preparation of Chapter solid state in 19 minutes only.

The weightage of this chapter is of 4 marks.

This chapter has various interesting topics . But you have to mainly focus on main topics like-• Definitions• NCERT NUMERICALS• Numericals based upon Density , molar mass and no. of atoms• Numericals based upon Radius• find out the formula of a compound • Defects• Magnetic moment

QUESTIONS asked can be twisted sometimes but try to read again the question with cool mind without being panicking. Then you will soon find out the solution.

The types of questions that could be asked  (these are  exemplary only , compounds / type can be changed ) –• Definitions likethermodtnamic defects , schottky ,Frenkel defect ,metal deficiency defect, F-centre , ferromagnetism , ferrimagnetism ,Doping etc• Types of defect shown by particular compound like ZnS , AgCl etc• Compound like ZnO turns yellow on heating• Numerical based on percentage of different ions like Fe , Ni• find out the type of magnetism when orientation is given• Predict the type of semiconductor on different types of doping• Examples of solids like molecular , ionic or covalent etc• Numerical based upon density is asked most of the time .If density is given , then calculation of molar mass or no. of atoms will be asked.• Predict the Types of structure like bcc , fcc etc• predict the no. of atoms in particular unit cell like in bcc , fcc etc.• Numerical based upon radium of atom • Predict the formula of compound.

Above are the types of questions which are generally asked in exam and cover whole chapter.
