How To Stay Motivated For Studies


Do you find it hard to stay motivated to study especially in
this lock down period?
It is very tempting to engage yourself with your gadgets for gaming , watch
entertaining videos or do some absolutely unnecessary things.
Time is running out . Your syllabus is vast . You even do not know where to start ,
how to start and what to begin with.
During this pandemic situation , you want to study but are helpless . Your sense of
panic is rising day by day.
If you are in the same situation , then this article will help you to keep you motivated
to study.
Today, here , I am going to tell you the strategies which will encourage you for
planned studies and will give benefit in future.
1. Discover your resistance.
Here are some of the most common:
 You think that particular topic / subject is beyond your abilities
 You’ve decided the topic is boring
 You’re waiting for the “perfect” time to start
 The work is so piled up that you don’t know where to start
Understanding why you postpone the study is a key first step to getting motivated.
2. Commit to a single task .
# Pick one thing to focus on.
#If you pick more than one thing, you’re most likely to be distracted.
#When you’re trying to accomplish multiple tasks, you’ll be tempted to move to the next item
of your to-do list the moment the first thing gets boring or difficult. It’s human nature.
Instead, Pick one thing to focus on at first. Commit to it. Even write it down.
3. Break the study material into small parts.
It is not necessary to cover whole chapter at once. You can take small bite at a time.
Assign yourself a certain number of those bites / parts each day. Suddenly, you’re no longer faced
with a scary task, but rather a series of manageable bites.
A bite might be reading three pages of your textbook, completing five multiple-choice questions, or
finding two reference articles on the Internet for your paper.
4. Make study routine a habit
It is generally easier to stay motivated if your studying becomes part of your everyday life.
For example, you can get up an hour earlier, and spend that hour studying each day. That way, it is
easier to avoid being distracted during your study time, because you know that it is set aside for a
purpose. Your friends and family will also get to know when your study time happens, and hopefully
avoid you then.
You should also ensure that when you start your study period, you minimise distractions. For
example, put away or switch off your phone, so that you are not eager to check it.

5. Reward yourself
#Every time when you complete one or two parts, reward yourself with a short period of
#It could be five-ten minutes on your favourite smartphone game, a short walk, or listening

6. Make a “boring” subject interesting
When you find it difficult to study because the subject is “boring”, ask yourself: “Is the subject really
boring, or does it seem that way ?” There are no boring subjects, only disinterested minds.
If you think a subject is boring, try to make it interesting by asking yourself questions.
What a particular term stands for?
Who discovered it ?
What are its uses in our daily-life etc etc...
If you ask the right questions, you can make any subject interesting.

7. Try to understand the concept instead of cramming.
The most effective way to study is to understand the concept rather than memorising the facts.
Understanding a topic is far more rewarding than memorising it. So this approach to studying is not
only more effective but it will also keep you motivated.
8. Exercise your brain
You need to train your brain to get motivated to study. Consider your brain as a muscle.Developing
your ability to focus is like concentrating the sun rays at a point.
It’s all about consistency and making gradual progress.
Exercise your brain, even when you’re not studying.
You can do this by reading, thinking through challenging world issues, doing puzzles, or journaling.
The greater the variety of ways in which you train your brain, the stronger and more flexible your
brain will become. Just as with a physical workout, a key part of training your brain is rest and
recovery. So, make sure that you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night .
Nutrition is another important aspect of training your brain.
The brain needs certain fatty acids in order to function optimally. You can get these fatty acids from
eating nuts. Other brain foods include: Beans,Pumpkin seeds, Dark chocolate and Pomegranate
9. Do not expect to feel motivated all the time
The fact is that no one feels motivated all the time.
So don’t rely on feeling motivated in order to get the work done.
Sometimes the motivation just does not appear.
That’s why you need a study routine and study habits to encourage yourself.
10. Learn to practise.
Make learning active , not passive.

Passive learning is where you try to absorb information and knowledge. It’s based on the idea that
you’re an empty vessel waiting to be filled.
if you want to learn a new topic quickly and effectively, use as much active learning as you can.
Whatever you learn , try to co-relate it with live examples. And Practise the concepts on daily basis.

11. Things to do for Long-Term Motivation
There are a few things you can do:

#Build more self-discipline
#Build better study habits
Combine above steps with self-discipline, healthy study habits built up over a
period of time, and a well-designed study space leading to success, and you
should not find it too difficult to feel motivated to get work done.
